As we grew up in our local cities and towns, chances are we repeatedly heard negative comments directed towards any race, religion, or attitude that didn't mesh with the local bent. For me, that disdain was also directed at "those crazy Californians."
When I headed off to college in a distant state, traveled to different countries, and subsequently established a variety of residences through the south, I began to drop those prejudices as I realized that people are pretty much the same world-wide.
Yet news in 2009 that we would be moving to Southern California filled me with dread at having to live among people who cared too much about their looks, and were trying to ruin our children with their Hollywood morals and values.
Once again, I learned that things are not always as they appear on TV... and I plan to use this blog to share my observations (good, bad, or indifferent) on California.
